Total collection through FASTag grows 46 percent to Rs 50,855 crore in 2022

Through the FASTag installed on the trains, the passengers got some relief from the long queues. At the same time, the government has also earned a lot from this. In 2022, total toll collection of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) through FASTag 4.

This also includes toll booths on state highways. The public sector company gave this information on Tuesday. A year before this i.e. in 2021, a total of Rs 34,778 crore was collected at toll plazas through FASTag.

NHAI said in a statement that the average daily toll collection at National Highways toll plazas in December 2022 from FASTag was Rs 134.44 crore and the highest single day collection was Rs 144.19 crore on December 24, 2022.

According to the statement, the number of FASTag transactions has also increased by around 48 percent in 2022 on an annual basis. In 2021 and 2022, the figure was Rs 219 crore and Rs 324 crore respectively.

NHAI said that 6.4 crore FASTags have been issued so far and the number of toll plazas charging through FASTag has also increased from 922 to 1,181 (including 323 state highway plazas) in 2021. With the help of FASTag, the waiting time at toll plazas significantly reduced.

The government has made FASTag mandatory for all private and commercial vehicles from February 16, 2021. Vehicles that do not have a valid or current FASTag will be fined twice the toll fee.
