The 12th edition of the prestigious Vasai Virar Marathon 2024 kicked off with great enthusiasm on Sunday, inaugurated by Olympic bronze and Commonwealth gold medal-winning wrestler Sakshi Malik
Olympic and Commonwealth medalist Sakshi Malik, who was the brand ambassador for the event, flagged off the marathon with 15,000 participants. Reflecting on the event, she said, "I was 'stunned' by the enthusiasm of participants from various age groups." She added, "It's great to see both young and elderly people participating in such events. It's important for everyone to pick up a sport and pursue it for their well-being." She also congratulated all the medal winners and participants.
