Two teachers who were rendered jobless due to Novel coronavirus have started selling banana chips for survival.

Dnyaneshwar Mali (Gadegaon) and Amol Jarad (Gevrai Tanda, Paithan tehsil) completed D Ed (2014) and B A and M A together. They were working in a private English School at Paithan as a teacher.

They were finding difficulties to manage life at the meagre salary of Rs 8,000, so, they started a coaching class.

Dnyaneshwar and Amol told this newspaper that their school and coaching class were shut down in lockdown. They commenced selling banana chips in the city for their survival.

“For how many days, we can remain unemployed. Whatever savings we had, we spent in lockdown. There was a need to have an alternative for survival. In the beginning, we sold vegetables but were not earning much. After unlock, we launched chips stall at Osmanpura recently. The space for the stall found near BJP District Office. Landowner too helped us considering our financial condition,” they said.

The alternative found by the struggling teachers is an inspiration for others.
