Aurangabad, May 6:
As per the guidelines, a person was allowed to donate blood only after two months. Now, the blood donors have been permitted to donate blood after 14 days of obtaining the second dose. This measure will help to overcome the blood scarcity during the Corona pandemic period.
The vaccination drive is being implemented across the country. The vaccination of the people above 18 years has also started. However, the person gaining vaccine could not donate blood for 28 days. After 28 days, he had to take the second dose and wait for another 28 days for donating blood. The National Blood Transfusion Council has not declared that the person willing to donate blood can donate after 14 days of the second vaccine. The youths above 18 years have been appealed to donate blood in large number after completing the vaccination. In all, 904 donors donated blood last month, informed the public relation officer of the Dattaji Bhale Blood Bank, Appasaheb Somase.
The director of the Dattaji Bhale Blood Bank, Dr Manjusha Kulkarni said that the council has changed the guidelines for the blood donors who have been vaccinated. They can now donate blood after 14 days instead 28 days of the second dose. The youths can donate blood before taking the vaccines also.
The public relation officer of the divisional blood bank, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Hanuman Rule said, the blood bank presently has the stock that will last for the next 15 days. Hence, there is a need that people should donate blood in large numbers.
