Aurangabad, May 13:

The Non-Government Organisations and good samaritan distributed grocery and ‘Ramzan kit’ to needy and underprivileged persons in different parts of the city to make their ‘Eid-ul-Fitr more joyous.

Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan, will be celebrated on May 14. One of the most significant desserts of the festival is ‘Sheer Khurma’. It is a delectable and nutritious mix of vermicelli (sewai), dates, milk, dry fruit like almonds, pistachio (pista), cashew nuts.

Many persons are unemployed or lost jobs because of COVID lockdown. They were finding it difficult to have two squares meal. So, they cannot purchase dry fruit and other things for Eid celebration.

Some NGOs have distributed ‘Ramzan Kit’ along with grocery kit to many families to share the joy of Eid with them. Ramzan kit comprises different dry fruits, dates and sewai.

Siddiqui Welfare, Social Global Medical Foundation (SWSHMF) has distributed ration and ‘Ramzan’ kits to around 4,000 families of the city for Eid celebration.

Founder of the NGO Masiuddin Siddiqui said, ‘Many persons have lost their job and cannot afford two times meal a day in lockdown. We distributed ‘Ramzan and ration kits to families after identifying their needs so that they can celebrate Eid without any difficulty.

He said that their 50 to 60 volunteers worked day and night to identify the deserving families and distributing the kits.

“The service to man is like service to Almighty,” he added.

Another NGO, Selfless Helping Hands (SHH) too distributed ‘Ramzan and grocery kits to those especially those who lost their jobs. Dr Sohail Zakiuddin (joint secretary of SHH) said that a team from this group surveyed people who have lost job and cannot ask for help.

“Instead of poor people, this time the trust helped 50 people with one month’ s ration kit and Raman kit, who lost their jobs and their families are dependent on the daily wages they earned. Many of them are from the middle class who can’t even express their needs due to the status they maintain in the society,” he said.

Trust has educationally adopted many children and bears their educational expenses and its only goal is to serve humanity. Dr Maqdoom Farooqui is its president, while Saifuddin Abbas, Kazi Farak, Merajuddin Shuttari, Shaikh Faheem, Khwaja Nizam, Dr Altaf Siddiqui, Dr Dilshad Zaidi and Quadri Sajjad are the core group members.
