Number of COVID patients rose 5 times in M’wada in 15 days

Aurangabad, March 16:

Number of Novel coronavirus patients was increased five times in Marathwada during the last 15 days.

There were 687 patients in eight districts of the division on March 1 while it rose to 2600 on March 16 (till 9 am). A total of 1442 patients were reported in eight cities while 1158 in rural areas.

The number of home and institutional quarantine patients strength is increasing. The figure of containment zones increased up to 536 from 400 in the region.

The recovery rate on March first was 93.62 per cent while on March 16, it is 89.81 pc. This indicates that the recovery pc is decreasing. The pc of patients death is low.

A total of 6,333 were sent to institutional quarantine in 15 days while 14,032 were advised for home quarantine. There are 32,393 citizens in quarantine today while 12,115 people are in institutional quarantine.

Aurangabad district topped in the region with the rise in patients’ figure.

Over 800 patients are found daily in the city for the past three days while over 200 from rural areas. Aurangabad is followed by Jalna, Nanded, Beed and Latur. Patients’ s strength is low in Hingoli and Osmanabad districts.

The region has 33 per cent fund's sanction under the District Planning Committee (DPC) scheme. However, the fund was used on basic facilities.

All the medical colleges are dependent on the DPC fund. Therefore, the divisional administration sought more fund from the Government.
