Rainwater seeps into several houses, shops

Aurangabad, Oct 21:

Heavy rains caused waterlogging in homes, shops and offices in several low-lying areas in the city on Wednesday evening. There was knee-deep water in many places. Citizens were seen removing water from their houses.

Water entered 4 to 5 houses in Ulkanagari area. Water also seeped into a building and Siddhivinayak Residency apartment near Chetak Ghoda area. A large amount of water seeped into the basement of the Akshaydeep Plaza building near Cidco bus stand. The shops here were knee-deep in water. Water also flooded the Miraj apartment near Manik Hospital. In Khadkeshwar too, citizens were seen removing water from their houses. The streets in Pundaliknagar, Jayabhavaninagar were flooded. Tree fell due to rain in Satara area. While there were heavy rains in the city, areas like Bhavsinghpura, Begampura, Town Hall had not much rain. Within minutes of the onset of the rains, the fire department received a series of phone calls informing them that water has seeped into homes in several areas. Firefighters rushed to the spot to help citizens. It was raining lightly after 5.30 pm. The Chikalthana observatory recorded 57 mm rainfall till 8.30 pm.

Power outages in various parts

Heavy rains disrupted power supply in some parts of the city. Cidco, N-1, Centron feeder in Chikalthana broke down at 5.30 pm. The power supply of this feeder was restored at 7.15 pm. The breakdown occurred at Bhagatsingh Nagar and Surewadi feeders in Shahganj sub-division at 5.45 pm. The power supply was restored at 7 pm. Chandrakant Mohadikar, additional executive engineer, Chikalthana sub-division, Vinay Ghanbahadur of Shahganj sub-division, Branch engineers and technical staff worked hard to repair the power supply.
