Ratio of COVID deaths drops to 1.22 pc in three months

Aura
ngabad, Sept 26:
The ratio of death has dropped down drastically in the city during the last three months. The ratio which was 5.94 per cent in June has reduced to 1.22 pc, this month. The drop in the percentage is the result of the strenuous effort put in by the team led by the administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) Astik Kumar Pandey. Meanwhile, the team is on toes to further reduce the ratio.

The focus of AMC was always on tracing, testing and treatment of the Covid-19 patients. The health teams were deployed at the points of entry or visiting door to door and conducting antigen tests. So far, the AMC claimed to have tested 2.60 lakh persons and detected thousands of Covid-19 patients. The civic body rushed these patients immediately to the COVID Care Centres in the ambulance or Smart City Bus. More than 75 percent of patients recovered from the ailment and got reunited with their family members. As on today, there is no complaint relating to a vacant bed or shortage of oxygen.

On the one hand, the AMC was tracing and treating the patients, and on the other hand, it introduced MHMH App enabling the team of doctors to track the health of elderly persons and provide medical assistance to recovered patients through interactions. It is also executing the state government''s drive ''My Family My Responsibility'' which aims at reducing the death ratio in Maharashtra. Earlier, the AMC had conducted similar surveys five times. Presently, 400 squads have been deployed for the survey. All efforts are yielding results, and this is the reason why the detection of Coronavirus infected persons is low in the city compared to other cities of Maharashtra (where 700-800 patients are reported daily).

In June, 2935 Covid-19 patients were detected and 190 deaths were reported (5.94 pc). In July, 5,834 were detected and 167 deaths were recorded (3.04 pc). In August, 5,367 patients and 124 deaths (1.72 pc) were reported and in September (till to date), there is reporting of 5,660 patients and 103 deaths (1.22 pc).

The AMC administrator A K Pandey elaborated saying that the state government was frequently giving instructions on reducing the death ratio. " The AMC, in the past 3-4 months, focussed
24 x7 on the adequate measures taken to tackle the pandemic situation in the city. We were not wasting time whenever we detected any Covid-19 patient. The death ratio in September is low compared to the ratio in June. We have now focussed on how we can further reduce the ratio of death," said the administrator.
