The next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) will be a mega auction with the addition of two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad. For this, the BCCI has made some rules for 8 franchises and according to this, the franchises will be able to retain 4 players.

The BCCI has given a budget of Rs 42 crore to eight franchises to retain four players. This amount will be deducted from their salary.

If four players are retained, then the limit is 16 crore for the first player, 12 crore for the second, 8 crore for the third and 6 crore for the fourth. If three players are retained, the limit will be Rs 15 crore for the first player, Rs 11 crore for the second player and Rs 7 crore for the third player.

Sources said that MS Dhoni will stay with CSK for three years. But, Dhoni does not want to be at the top of the retention list. News is coming out that he wants to retain another player by paying more than him.

CSK are all set to retain all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. Overseas players include Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood and Faf du Plessis. Dhoni's decision will benefit any of them financially.
