Unlock 1.0: Maharashtra RTOs resume operations across the state

The Maharashtra Regional Transport Office (RTO) has resumed operations of registration of vehicles and issuing driving licenses. The department was temporarily closed due to coronavirus induced nationwide lockdown and is now reopening after three months.

The body has now decided to resume operations of issuing licence and registration of vehicles at all its 50 offices spread across the state.

The body will be following social distance protocols in all these offices to prevent spread of coronavirus infection. Under the new protocol, people visiting any of the 50 Transport Offices will have to make an appointment in advance. An appointment can be booked via the RTO's website, and are limited to a number of visitors each day.

People visiting the RTO for a learner's licence will have to mandatorily maintain a minimum distance of six feet. The computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse, and CPU) used for a learner's test will be sanitised after every use.

All applicants must come to the office wearing face masks and hand gloves and local RTO would cater for multiple hand sanitisers to be placed inside the office premises. Preference will be given to candidates who have applied for a learning license before the lockdown.
