Renowned Spiritual Leader Sadhguru Undergoes Emergency Brain Surgery at Apollo Delhi

Popular spiritual guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has undergone emergency brain surgery at Apollo Delhi. As per reports, he was admitted to Apollo Delhi after a massive swelling and bleeding in his brain was detected on March 17.Journalist Anand Narasimhan shared an update on Sadhguru’s health, stating that Sadhguru was suffering from severe headaches for the past several days.
 

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev was examined by Dr Vinit Suri and was advised an MRI, where massive bleeding in his brain was detected. His health rapidly deteriorated and on 17th March, he was admitted after recurrent vomiting and a worsening headache. A CT scan revealed a critical swelling in his brain along with the bleeding. A team of doctors from Apollo Delhi Dr Vinit Suri, Dr Pranav Kumar, Dr Sudheer Tyagi and Dr S Chatterjee performed an emergency surgery on him. Following the surgery, Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator and has been recovering well. His brain, body and vital parameters are showing steady improvement following the surgery, as per Narasimhan’s update.

“Sadhguru had been suffering from severe headache for the last four weeks. Despite the severity of the pain, he continued with his normal daily schedule and social activities, and even conducted the Maha Shivaratri function on 8 March 2024,” the statements shared by Apollo read.

“The headache got extremely severe by 15 March 2024, when he consulted Dr Vinit Suri, Senior Consultant Neurologist, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi at about 3:45 pm. Dr Vinit Suri immediately suspected a sub-dural hematoma and advised an urgent MRI. Sadhguru underwent an MRI brain at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals at 4:30 pm the same day, and it revealed massive bleeding in the brain. There was evidence of a chronic bleed of 3-4 weeks duration along with another fresh bleeding of 24-48 hrs duration. Sadhguru was advised immediate hospitalization, but he had important meetings scheduled at 6 pm on the 15 and the India Today Conclave on 16 March. According to Dr Suri, Sadhguru mentioned "I have never missed a single meeting in my last 40 years", and despite severe and agonizing symptoms, he completed the above meeting under the support of pain killers,” hospital further added.

“On 17th March 2024, Sadhguru developed a progressive decline in his level of consciousness along with weakness of his left leg with marked worsening of headache with recurrent vomiting, and was finally admitted to Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals under the care of Dr Vinit Suri. According to Dr Suri on 17 March when Sadhguru finally agreed for admission, he mentioned "now is the time for you to perform the procedure". Sadhguru had rapid worsening of his neurological status on 17 March and an urgent CT head revealed a marked increase in brain swelling and life- threatening shifting of the brain to one side,” it added.

“Sadhguru was managed by a team of doctors comprising Dr Vinit Suri, Dr Pranav Kumar, Dr Sudheer Tyagi and Dr S Chatterjee and underwent an emergency brain surgery within few hours of admission to remove the bleeding in the skull. Sadhguru was weaned off the ventilator post- surgery, Sadhguru has shown steady progress and his brain, body and vital parameters have improved. As per the comment of Dr Vinit Suri "Sadhguru is healing himself, apart from the medical measures instituted by us". The team of Apollo comprising Neurologist, Neurosurgeons, ICU Clinicians, nurses and OT staff worked diligently to ensure the best possible outcome for Sadhguru, hospital said in statement.
