Veteran actor and singer Ila Arun‘s daughter Ishitta Arun was recently seen in Hansal Mehta‘s recent hit web-series Scoop along with Karishma Tanna and Harman Baweja.

The young actress has opened up about how she feels Bollywood has been a bit unfair towards her mother and failed to utilise her acting talent.

In a recent interview Ishitta shared that her mother has not got her due, and she was not utilised to her full potential. Talking to DNA, she said, “My mother is now receiving roles with which she can prove her acting talent. Ma is an excellent writer and has a strong command of Hindi and Urdu. She is responsible for my fluency in languages. But talking about the actor part… it started with Shyam (Benegal) uncle. He is dearest to all of us, and I make jokes that mummy has always played a prostitute, servant, or weaver. I don’t think she has ever played the game.”

Ishitta then claimed that people in the industry judged Ila for her physical appearance and because of which she got limited roles.

She said, “In the late 80s and 90s, she was into folk music and avoided being a part of any lobby. Saawli, lambe baal… and there were many other actresses of her age due to which she wasn’t getting the offers.”

Ishitta then said the advent of OTT was like a boon for Ila as she started getting offered good roles, “There is a lot of good work. She’s doing one film after the other,” Ila will be seen in the third season of Sushmita Sen’s Aarya, helmed by Ram Madhvani.

However, Ishitta urges filmmakers to bring good work to her mother while she is active and not make memorials after she is dead. She said, “she’s there give her the work. Appreciate her for the person and talent she is.”

Arun has sung numerous film songs in Hindi and quite a few South Indian languages such as Tamil and Telugu. Her most famous film song to date has been "Choli Ke Peeche" sung along with Alka Yagnik for the film Khalnayak starring Madhuri Dixit, for which they won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
