KK was born on August 23, 1968, in New Delhi in a Malayali household. Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known by his stage name KK, was a popular playback singer in the Hindi film industry. He did his schooling at Delhi’s Mount St Mary’s School and completed his graduation from Delhi University’s Kirori Mal College.

It was in 1999 when KK married his childhood sweetheart Jyothi. KK is now survived by his wife Jyothi, and their two children, son Nakul Krishna Kunnath and daughter Tamara Kunnath.

KK was greatly influenced by renowned singers such as Kishore Kumar and RD Burman. On the international front, he was hugely inspired by Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Bryan Adams and Billy Joel. Contrary to the belief, KK did not take any music lessons and was naturally blessed with his talent.

KK had a very humble start to his career. He has written and sung numerous jingles before he made his mark in the world of music as a playback singer. KK had also sung for some television shows such as Hip Hip Hurray, Just Mohobbat and Shakalaka Boom Boom. It was AR Rahman who had introduced KK as a playback singer

Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK has a reported net worth of about $8,000,000. The singer reportedly owned luxury cars and properties.

Hours after singer KK's shocking death after a concert in Kolkata, a video showed him looking unwell while being rushed out of the venue. He went back to his hotel where his condition reportedly deteriorated. He reportedly suffered from chest pain and died on the way to hospital.

Another video showed the singer sweating profusely as he took a break to wipe his face. Other voices in the video were heard saying, "Bohot zyada garam hai (it is very hot)". At one point, KK was seen gesturing to a man on stage and appeared to be talking about the air-conditioning.

The cause of the singer's death remains unknown and a post-mortem report is expected soon. Police have registered a case of unnatural death

Many on social media claim the Nazrul Manch auditorium in South Kolkata was overcrowded and the heat became oppressive during the concert. While the Nazrul Mancha has a capacity of about 2,400, social media posts claimed that many more people had entered the venue where KK was performing for a college fest.

KK, or Krishnakumar Kunnath, was known for some of Bollywood's biggest hits, like 'Pal' and 'Yaaron'.

His songs almost gained cult status among teens in the late 1990s, and his voice was common at school and college farewells and teen cultural events.
