WhatsApp has announced the adoption of 500 villages across the country to promote digital payments. It will create awareness in villages about WhatsApp digital payments and prepare more people to turn to digital transactions.

WhatsApp has over 50 crore users in India. It will initially launch a pilot project. In this, work will be done to promote digital payment in villages by adopting villages. Initially this work will be done in 500 villages

The project will be implemented in 500 villages in Maharashtra and Karnataka. WhatsApp has launched a service called 'Payment on WhatsApp' for this. In the same way that payment can be done through Google Pay.

The company intends to connect billions of people through WhatsApp payments. WhatsApp has said that a total of 500 villages in Karnataka and Maharashtra will be adopted on the background of this mission.

WhatsApp has named this campaign as Digital Payment Festival. Under this, this campaign has started from 15th October. The WhatsApp campaign was launched from Kathanhalli village in Mandya district of Karnataka.

UPI provides detailed information to the villagers about sign up, UPI account setting and safety tips. By educating the villagers about digital payments, WhatsApp has given impetus to digital transactions in the village. Many villagers are now using WhatsApp.

'Payment on WhatsApp' is now being used in transactions from grocery stores to beauty parlors and other small businesses In villages.

A grocery shopkeeper in the village said that most people in the village now send lists of goods and share locations through WhatsApp and the payment is also done by Whatsapp only.
