Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Management Council (MC) of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) on Saturday granted autonomy to another college within its jurisdiction.

With this, the number of autonomous colleges within the university’s jurisdiction will go up to five.

Earlier, Deogiri College (run by Marathwada Shikshan Prasarak Mandal), Deogiri Institute of Engineering and Management Studies, Yashwantrao Chavan College of Pharmacy and Government Engineering College were the first to receive autonomous status. Among traditional colleges, Deogiri College was the first.

Now, Vasantrao Naik College (run by Vasantrao Naik Shikshan Prasarak Mandal) has obtained academic autonomy under Section 122 of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016.

This college will be autonomous from the academic year 2026–2027.
