Armed with brooms, gloves, and masks, 1,033 cleanliness volunteers took to the streets on Sunday morning, removing 264 tons of waste in just two hours. Covering 39.6 km of roads, they delivered a powerful message: "Keep one dream in your heart making India clean."

The Maha-Swachhata Abhiyan, organized by Maharashtra Bhushan Dr Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan, saw enthusiastic participation. Assistant Commissioner Archana Rajput inaugurated the campaign at Kranti Chowk, leading the effort by picking up a broom herself. As volunteers chanted "Jai Jai Raghuveer Samarth" and "Om Shri Guru Dattatreya Shripad Shrivallabh," the cleaning drive gained momentum. From 9.30 am to 11.30 am, thousands of hands worked relentlessly, clearing garbage from roadsides, dividers, and drains. Volunteers filled large sacks with segregated wet and dry waste, which municipal garbage trucks later collected. Even dirt heaps along the roadsides were removed, with volunteers showing no hesitation despite soiled clothes and footwear. The district administration, district council, and municipal corporation extended strong support to the initiative. Morning walkers also joined in. In just two hours, volunteers collected 74,500 kg of wet waste and 165,600 kg of dry waste.

Key streets covered in the drive:

Kranti Chowk to Gulmandi

Mahavir Chowk to Mill Corner

Railway Station to Jay Tower

CIDCO Bus Stand to IGTR College

Bhadkal Gate to Amkhas Maidan

Jalgaon T-Point to Delhi Gate

Waluj Bajajnagar

Additionally, the drive extended to Paithan and Vaijapur.

Clean-up at Shivsrishti

Volunteers also cleaned the Shivsrishti area under Kranti Chowk flyover, removing accumulated dust and wiping down information boards to restore their visibility.
