Aurangabad, April 10:

A total of 107 international students from 11 countries took admissions in different departments of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) for the academic year 2020-21.

The university has earned lakhs of rupees revenue in even lockdown from them.

It may be noted that foreign students had to move from one department to another to complete the admissions process. Currently, there are more than 500 students admitted to the departments and affiliated colleges.

Seeking admission had become a tedious job for the students. Because of which students started moving to other cities for admissions.

It was not in Bamu and affiliated colleges' interest as the students pay three to five fees compared to local students.

Vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole decided to start one window system and online admissions process to maintain students' trust.

The new system drew a good response from international students even during the lockdown. The whole process, from admission to declaring the result, is being done online.

Director of Foreign Students Cell Dr Mustajeeb Khan said that 107 international candidates took the admissions for Ph D research and master degree courses.

“The new system saves time and money of students. The highest number of students (89) are from Yemen while others are from Afghanistan, Congo, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Nepal, Sudan, Somalia and Thailand”, he added.
