A 12-year-old schoolgirl died by suicide at her home on Friday around 2 pm, while the whole village was celebrating Dhulivandan, by hanging herself with a dupatta in Dhanora, Sillod Taluka.
The deceased girl has been identified as Pranjal Sanjay Maharupe, a sixth-grade student. On Friday morning, the village of Dhanora was immersed in the celebrations of Dhulivandan. Around 2 pm, Pranjal's father, Sanjay Maharupe, returned home and found her hanging with dupatta. Villagers immediately brought Pranjal down and rushed her to the Sillod sub-district hospital, where doctors examined her and declared her dead. In the evening, her last rites were performed. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Sillod Rural Police Station.
