Aurangabad, Dec 21:

The local crime branch of the rural police arrested two sandalwood thieves and seized 31 kgs of sandalwood worth Rs 61,000/- from them at Dongargaon Phata on Sillod Road on Saturday night. The arrested have been identified as Jabbarkhan Abdulkhan Pathan (50, Kathora Bazar, Bhokardan, Jalna) and Prakash Sandu Maher (53, Kathora Bazar).

According to the details, CB PI Bhagwan Phunde received the information that two persons are smuggling sandalwood and going from Sillod Road on motorcycle. Accordingly, a trap was laid at Dongargaon Phata and arrested both the accused. The police have seized 31 kgs sandalwood amounting Rs 62,000, a Hero Honda motorcycle and two mobile phones, all amounting Rs 92,000.

The action was executed under the guidance of SP Mokshada Patil by PI, Bhagwat Phunde, constables Balu Pathrikar, Namdev Shirsath, Sanjay Bhosale, Santoshi Damale and others.
