A massive fire on Wednesday night gutted approximately 30 acres of government grazing land in Mahal Kinhola shivar, Phulambri tehsil destroying 8,000- 10,000 trees of various species including neem, jambul, tamarind, ber, and banyan many grown 10 to 12 feet tall. The fire broke out at around 7.30 pm in Gat No. 184 and 185, where the Forest Department had planted trees two years ago, and spread rapidly due to strong winds. Villagers, joined by the fire brigade, fought the blaze for nearly three hours before bringing it under control. Adv Ajinath Kapre, Sheshrao Parkhe, Gram Sevak Nilesh Chauthe, and several gram panchayat members played a key role in the firefighting efforts. Villagers expressed deep grief over the massive environmental loss.
