Aurangabad, Dec 27:

The Bidkin police have arrested 14 persons in the case of attacking Ganesh Maharaj in Paithan tehsil. The devotees of the Maharaj and the villagers lodged counter complaints on Sunday. Accordingly, the police have registered cases against 25 villagers of Nilajgaon and even Ganesh Maharaj. Meanwhile, the condition of the Maharaj is said to be stable.

A dispute arouse between Ganesh Maharaj and the Nilajgaon villagers at Shriram Tekdi at Meharban Naik Tanda in Paithan tehsil on the occasion of Mokshada Ekadashi on Friday. Maharaj took out sword on the villagers. The villagers then threw stones on him in which he was severely injured. He was later admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The police took the statement of Ganesh Maharaj and registered case against villagers and Maharaj for threatening the villagers with sword, informed PSI, Rahul Patil.

A villager, Bharat Tatyarao Mogal lodged a complaint against Ganesh Maharaj at Bidkin police station. In the complaint lodged by Ganesh Maharaj, he said that his cow went into a farm and he called the cow mad. However, the people present there thought that he is calling them mad. They beat him with sticks and stones with the intention to kill him, Maharaj mentioned in the complaint.
