Considering the increased Covid pandemic, the union government has decided to vaccinate all the people above 18 years old now. Around 8 lakh people in the district will be vaccinated after this decision. Until now, 3 lakh people have been vaccinated. Although, there is a huge response to the vaccination drive but the health machinery in the district is not getting ample stock of vaccines.

The Corona patients are increasing rapidly and it is a major challenge before the health machinery to save them. The government has directed to implement the vaccination drive efficiently. However, the health machinery is not getting co-operation from the state and the union government as ample vaccine stock is not supplied.

The vaccine stock was over on Tuesday and there were only 6,000 vaccines with the rural health machinery. In all, 40 vaccines were given in the district on Tuesday by evening. The demand of vaccines is in lakhs but ample stock is not provided in the district, the sources said.

Earlier, the health employees, frontline workers, senior citizens and above 45 years persons have been vaccinated.
