4 electric vehicles dedicated to transporting students for free

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A free electric vehicle service has been made available for students on the campus of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari, in the presence of Management Council members, dedicated the vehicles for students and researchers.

The university is set to receive a fund of R 100 crores under the PM USHA project, from which infrastructure and technical equipment are being procured.

Under this scheme, four electric vehicles have been purchased at a cost of approximately Rs 40 lakhs. These include two vehicles with a capacity of 14 seats and two with 8 seats. VC Dr Vijay Fulari launched the service in front of the main building today.

Pro VC Dr Walmik Sarwade, Registrar Dr Prashant Amrutkar, along with Management Council members Dr Gajanan Sanap, Kashinath Deodhar, Dr Ankush Kadam, Principal Dr Bharat Khandare and others were present.

These vehicles will transport students from the main gate to all departments within the university. This facility will be available free of charge to students and research scholars; however, students will be required to present their identity cards. With the availability of electric vehicles, students will be relieved of inconvenience specially in the backdrop of the summer season.
