Aurangabad, MARCH 7: Five persons, three of them belonging to a family, were killed on the spot while five others seriously injured in a truck-autorickshaw collision on Beed-Telgaon road near Pangarbawadi about 5 kms from Beed city of Marathwada, on Sunday at 7.45 pm.

The auto-rickshaw was coming towards Beed from Wadwani while the truck (MH-09-CV-9644) was going in the opposite direction.

The truck driver was reportedly under the influence of liquor. The heavy vehicle first collided with the auto-rickshaw near Pangarbawadi and sped away. It hit a motorbike rider near Ghodaka Rajuri, nearly two kms away from Pangarbawadi and turned turtle. The driver fled the spot abandoning the truck at the spot.

The collision was so severe that five persons travelling in the autorickshaw were killed on the spot and five sustained severe injury.

The deceased have been identified as Sharo Sattar Pathan, Tabbasum Ajmal Pathan, Rehan Ajmal Pathan (11), Tamanna Ajmal Pathan (10) and one unidentified person.

The injured have been identified as autorickshaw driver Siddharth Shinde (Ghat Savali in Beed tehsil), Jaibai Kadam, Mujeeb Qureshi, Ashvin Pokale and Gorakh Kharsade.

The injured were brought to the Beed civil hospital where Dr Manoj Ghadsingh, Dr Abhishek Jadhav and Dr Sandeep Patil treated them.

Deceased Tabassum Ajmal Pathan, her son Rehan and daughter Tamanna were residents of Shahunagar, Beed.

The process of registering a case was in progress.
