Polling for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Paithan tehsil concluded peacefully on Saturday, with an average turnout of 52.51 per cent by 3.30 pm, sealing the political fate of 105 candidates across nine Zilla Parishad guts. Voting began at 7.30 am at 306 polling stations and, after a slow start, gained momentum through the day. Pachod drew attention as MP Sandipan Bhumre, MLA Vilas Bhumre and candidate Shivraj Bhumre cast their votes, while 100-year-old Sundarabai Ambadas Mandal also exercised her franchise at the same centre. Polling was conducted under the supervision of sub-divisional police officer Sunil Patil, while special inspector general of police Virendra Mishra carried out a surprise inspection at the Pachod polling centre.
