Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

The MIDC Cidco police on April 10 seized 53 kg 441 grams of ganja valued at Rs 26.72 lakh along with a car worth Rs 5 lakh, taking the total seizure to Rs 31.72 lakh on Friday.

The action was carried out at around 1.15 pm at Chhatrapatinagar, Naregaon, following a tip-off from a confidential informant. According to police, the contraband was found in a white Fiat car (MH-20-BC-9597) in possession of Videsh Machre (38), a driver and resident of Bhatnagar, Naregaon. He was allegedly waiting to sell the ganja.Besides Machre, police have named four others in the case, including a suspect identified as Reddy from Sambalpur, Odisha, along with Kishor Hatkar, Rahul Malke and Akash Dahiyekar of Jalgaon. The operation was conducted under the guidance of commissioner of police Pravin Pawar and DCP Prashant Swami, under the supervision of senior police inspector Somnath Jadhav. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Kailas Lahane.
