60 K students to appear for scholarship exam on April 26

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Maharashtra State Council of Examination will conduct scholarship examination for Class 4 and Class 7 students in the district on April 26.

The officers from the School Education Department said that a total of 59,933 students are set to appear. They said that 33,730 students are from Class 4, while 26,203 candidates are from Class 7.

Extensive planning has been made for the smooth conduct of the examination in the district. Education Officer of the Primary Education Department, Jayashree Chavan, said that 188 centres were arranged for Standard 4 and 170 centres for Grade 7.

Students who secure a place in the merit list of the results are awarded scholarships by the government.

Class IV students receive a scholarship of Rs 5,000 per year while Standard VII students receive Rs 7,500 per year. This scholarship is awarded for three consecutive years. Students from aided, unaided, permanently unaided, and self-financed schools are eligible for this examination. The main objective of this scholarship exam is to encourage meritorious students in the state and enhance their competitive ability.

As per the government decision taken on October 17, 2025, the scholarship examination that was previously held for Classes 5 and 8 is now being conducted for standards 4 and 7.

Under the old policy, the Classes 5 and 8 examinations were held on February 22, 2026. Due to the test being organised twice this year under the new policy, students have been provided with an additional opportunity.

Exam to be held in 2 sessions

The examination schedule is divided into two sessions. The first paper will be conducted from 11 am to 12.30 pm, covering Language and Mathematics. The second paper will be held from 2 pm to 3.30 pm, which will include Third Language (English) and an Intelligence Test. Both papers will carry 75 marks each.
