Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The 700 mm diameter water pipeline near Jayakwadi Dam was repaired by 4 pm on Monday, after which water supply to the city resumed. However, the 900 mm diameter water pipeline was not operational until late at night. With two pipelines being closed, there was a severe water shortage in the city.

The 700 mm pipeline burst on Saturday morning. The 900 mm pipeline was laid over the spot where the 700 mm pipeline had burst. Hence it was impossible to repair the 700 mm pipeline until one or two of the 900 mm pipes were moved aside. Finally, on Monday, the pipes of the water pipeline were lifted six to eight inches. After that, the old pipeline was repaired. The municipal corporation's water supply section started the first pump and tested the pipeline. Once it was confirmed that there were no leaks, the remaining pumps were started, and the work of bringing water to the city began. The water supply was interrupted for two days, causing panic in various localities due to the water shortage.

Yesterday's stages, today's tomorrow

The localities that did not receive water on Sunday were supplied water on Monday. The localities that could not receive water on Monday will be provided water on Tuesday, said the CSMC’s executive engineer, K M Phalak. The city's water supply has been completely disrupted, and it will take two to three days to restore it to normal, he hinted.

900 mm pipeline shutdown

The 900 mm water pipeline supplies at least 20 MLD of water. This water has been unavailable since Sunday, and the municipal corporation is now experiencing a water shortage, especially with the onset of summer.
