Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

To ensure that the city's residents can be supplied with water every other day during the summer, a water pipeline costing Rs 200 crore has been laid. However, technical issues are now surfacing. At a location 100 meters from the Pharola junction, a 1200-mm old water pipeline and a newly laid 2500-mm diameter water pipeline intersect with a 900-mm diameter pipeline. The section where these pipelines are "sandwiched" together will have some pipes removed and relocated.

Since March 22, the 900-mm diameter water pipeline has been shut down, leading to a daily water shortage of 20 MLD in the city. Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) had been neglecting the repairs. Two days ago, Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat inspected the water pipeline at Pharola, after which the repair work gained momentum. On the left side of the area where the pipeline was laid, there is an old 1200-mm diameter water pipeline, and adjacent to it, a 900-mm pipe was laid.

The remaining space is being used by GVPR Corporation to lay a new 2500-mm diameter pipe. A question arose about what would happen if the 900-mm pipeline ruptured in the future. It was eventually decided to remove the 900-mm pipe and lay it in a straight line, placing it alongside both the water pipelines. Work on this began three days ago, and it is expected that the city will not receive an additional 20 MLD of water for the next two to four days.
