A prison absconding form the Paithan open prison in march was arrested by the Paithan police at Padalewadi in Shirala tehsil in Sangli district on Sunday night. The arrested has been identified as Ramchandra Raghunath Patil (44). He was dodging the police for the past eight months.
The police received the information that Patil is coming to his native place. PI Sanjay Deshmukh directed head constable Laxman Puri and others to go to his village and nab him. The police arrested him from his home on Sunday night.
Patil was sent to Paithan open prison from Kolhapur on 2018. However, he escaped from the prison on March 1, 2023. The prison guard Sachin Pawar lodged a complaint with the Paithan police station and the Paithan police were searching him since then.
