Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Tushar Kisan Karpe (23, Viramgaon, Phulambri), the rape case accused who escaped with handcuffs was arrested by crime branch police on Tuesday night.

It may be noted that a 22-year-old girl lodged a complaint of rape and atrocity against Tushar with Vedantanagar police arrested him from the village on Monday. The court remanded him in police custody until February 28.

Constable Prakash Nagare and driver Arjun Singh Jarwal were taking him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) at 5.30 pm, on Tuesday for a medical examination. Tushar, pretending to be going to reply to nature’s call, ran away with handcuffs from near Ayodhya Maidan.

Slept in field all night

Tushar was scared after escaping from the policemen. He kept running from the fields of the Karnapura area. He slept there fearing that the police would catch him if he went on the road. As a result, he sustained many injuries. In the morning, he covered his handcuffs with a handkerchief and reached Phulambri asking for a lift.

With a strong suspicion that he had gone to the village, Crime Branch PSI Vishal Bodkhe, API Satish Jadhav, Sanjay Gawande and Balu Nagre were on his trail. In the evening, Bodkhe caught him on the Viramgaon Phulambri road and arrested him again.
