Aurangabad, July 19:

The Aurangabad division bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice V K Jadhav and Justice S G Dige on Friday canceled the life imprisonment of Aaba alias Munjaba Rajabhau Giri, accused in the radio explosion case at Kalegaon Ghat in Kej tehsil of Beed district sentenced by the session court, and acquitted him of all charges.

Aaba Giri, a resident of Kendrewadi, had a dispute with Gopinath Tarkase over land. Hence, Giri allegedly planted a radio bomb after taking gelatin sticks from Datta Jadhav from Nandurbar. However, the parcel of the radio remained in the bus. The conductor of the bus, Om Ramesh Nimbalkar, took the radio to his house.

The radio exploded, and both hands of Nimbalkar were damaged, his wife Usha lost her legs, and both the eyes of his four years old son Kunal were lost. His mother, Kusumbai was also handicapped. The sessions court had sentenced life imprisonment to Aaba Giri. Datta Jadhav, who provided gelatin sticks, was acquitted in the case. The bench observed that there is no evidence that Aaba Giri put the radio in the bus, and he is not qualified enough to make the circuits of the bomb. Hence, the bench canceled the punishment and acquitted him. Adv Siddheshwar Thombre appeared for the accused Giri while Adv Shrikrishna Solanke and Adv Anant Tidke assisted him.
