Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Taking note of reports that more than 10,000 mutation entries are pending in the district, District Collector Vinay Gowda GC held a meeting and ordered that all mutations be cleared within 1 month.
He also directed that 'show cause' notices be issued immediately to talathis where entries have been pending for more than one month.
After the registration of a property sale or purchase, it is mandatory to update the 7/12 extract (Saat-Baara) within 30 days. Talathis process certain mutation entries and forwards them to the Circle Officer level.
However, there are widespread complaints that the prescribed timelines are not being followed at both the Talathi and Circle Officer levels. Regular complaints are also received regarding harassment and financial exploitation by talathis.
The number of pending mutation entries within one month stands at 7,823. A total of 1,086 entries pending between 1 to 3 months are held up. The 131 entries have been pending for more than three months. The number of disputed pending mutation entries is 1,058.
The Collector held a review meeting on Saturday to speed up work, in which new time limits were set. Accordingly, Circle Officers have been given 1 day and talathis have been given two weeks to complete the mutation process.
