Aurangabad, Oct 29:

Water Management Committee (WMC) recommended district collector to take action against the contractor for the lifting silt and murum for Samruddhi Mahamarg project from Pajhar and village lakes beyond the permissible limit.

It may be noted that the district collector had permitted the contractor to lift silt and murum from lakes in Khuldabad, Gangapur, Vaijapur and Aurangabad tehsils up to one and a half meters only for the project.

However, the contractor dug deeper and lifted more minor minerals than the permitted level.

Irrigation projects were overflowing due to rainwaters and damaged crops of farmers in adjoining areas.WMC member and chairman of Education Committee Avinash Galande said that the committee recommended for action against the contractor for extra digging after doing panchanama of losses.
