City Chowk police arrested Suraj Tiwari (31, Kailasnagar) for consuming and selling narcotics near Marathwada Cultural Mandal ground. Police seized 872 gm ganja, 7 gm MD, 17 injections and a sword. He has been remanded to police custody till March 20.

Acting on reports of drug activity near Agriculture Bhavan, a team led by assistant inspector Manoj Shinde conducted a midnight raid and caught him red-handed. A B.Com graduate, Tiwari fell into addiction due to bad company; his wife left him and his father is a retired government employee. Police said he pawned family gold worth lakhs to fund his addiction and later began peddling. He has no prior record; suppliers are being traced.
