Medicines traced from Gujarat to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar via Latur
According to police records, the main accused, Ashfaq Patel, supplies narcotic medicines, cannabis, charas, MDs, and other banned substances in the city. Using 26 boxes under the name of Marathwada Medical, which had an invalid license in Latur, he had transported 3,120 bottles intended for narcotic use in a four-wheeler. Three accused were caught while delivering this consignment to the city. The entire consignment originated from Gujarat and was intercepted en route. Police suspect there may be a larger stock yet to be seized.

Bottles worth Rs 80 sold for Rs 400 each
The seized “Triprolidine Hydrochloride and Codeine Phosphate Syrup” bottles (100 ml, sealed) have a market price of only Rs 80 per bottle. However, during police interrogation, it emerged that these bottles were being sold for as much as Rs 400 each for narcotic use. The main distribution in the city was reportedly handled by Ashfaq Patel.

Main accused on the run; three held in custody
The main accused, Ashfaq Patel, who arranged the consignment, fled as soon as the case came to light. The three accused from the Latur district were taken into custody at the city chowk police station, registered under relevant charges, and have been remanded in police custody until 28 January, confirmed crime branch.

Police commissioner visits injured personnel
During the chase, the accused ran over police personnel Ganesh Sagare, injuring him. Commissioner of police Pravin Pawar visited his home to check on his condition. deputy commissioner of police Ratnakar Nawale, crime branch police inspector Gajanan Kalyankar, and police sub-inspector Pravin Wagh were also present.
