Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Indian students have a lot of capabilities compared to the rest of the world. They have a research attitude. However, despite doing quality research, they fall behind due to a lack of selection of appropriate research journals. In research, the quality is known by analyzing statistical data. So, adopt this skill for research,” said Dr M D Shirsat, the dean of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the six-day workshop on Advanced Statistical Data Analysis Using Software under PM Usha, organised by the Department of Statistics of Bamu. Dr. Gulab Khedkar, the coordinator of the PM Usha Scheme, was the chief guest.

Dr Sunil Kawale, Dr Omprakash Jadhav, Dr C D Sonar, Dr A Y Tayde and Dr R V Latpate were present. Dr M D Shirsath said that a statistician extracts facts from data.

Dr Khedkar said that data analysis is very important in research. “Often, even if research is done, research papers are not accepted if the available data is not analysed properly,” he said.
