Aurangabad, May 12

The Aurangabad based professors Dr Priayanand Agale and Dr Parag Sadgir received the patent for waste water treatment for the method invented by these two professors that does not require machinery, chemicals, electrical power for its operation. The Government of India on 28th April 2021 granted the patent for the self-purification based polluted water purification to them.

Dr Agale is presently working at Government Polytechnic Aurangabad and Dr Parag Sadgir is working at College of Engineering, Pune.

Dr Agale said that the overpopulation in developing and undeveloped countries increased domestic wastewater, which is responsible for water pollution. Around 80% of utilized water is transformed into domestic wastewater. Hence, it was necessary to develop an eco-friendly and cost-effective domestic wastewater treatment system with the help of the locally available material. This system can be constructed in brick masonry, stone masonry, RCC soil bunds or fabricated in fiber or ferro-cement material. Moreover, treated domestic wastewater satisfies standards for discharging inland surface water and inland irrigation, he said.

No mechanical means and chemical agents are used for the treatment operation. It is working on gravitation flow, hence it has minimum electrical energy requirement, operation and maintenance process is simple, Dr Agale added.
