Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
AIMIM contested 48 wards in the municipal elections and won 33, achieving a 68% strike rate. Compared to 2015, when the party won 24 of 60 contested seats, AIMIM gained nine additional seats this year, outperforming Congress and NCP.
Ticket Strategy and Leadership: Party supremo Asaduddin Owaisi guided overall strategy, executed locally by state president Imtiaz Jaleel. Candidate lists were announced ahead of other parties, with 22 former corporators denied tickets to promote new faces. Despite internal disputes and accusations of favoritism, Jalil prioritized public rallies and campaigns led by Akbaruddin Owaisi, generating strong voter momentum.
Unified Voting in Muslim-Majority Wards: AIMIM focused on Muslim-majority wards including Prabhag 5 (Mill Corner), Prabhag 6 (Lotakaranja-Shahabazar), Prabhag 12 (Kiradpura), Prabhag 13 (Jinsi-Bari Colony), Prabhag 9 (Naregaon), Prabhag 15 (Gulmandi), and Prabhag 28 (Railway Station-Hamalwada). Voters largely supported the party panel, ensuring victories even in contested areas.
Outcome: With 33 seats, AIMIM now stands as the main opposition in the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation.
