Aurangabad, June 9:

Chikalthana International Airport has been facing a water crisis for the last 12 years. Airport authority demanded a 4 inch waterline connection from the municipal corporation. But the corporation did not show any willingness to provide water connection to the airport. Now the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has agreed to supply water to the Chikalthana airport.

The demand for water at the airport is high. Therefore, the airport authority was repeatedly asking the municipal corporation to provide a 4-inch waterline connection. The issue was also discussed at airport meetings. This demand has been going on for the last 12 years. The divisional commissioner had also instructed them to provide water. Still, the corporation turned a blind eye towards the demand. Hence the airport had to rely on tanker water. Finally, the airport authority asked MIDC for water supply. The MIDC has agreed to provide a connection of 100 mm diameter waterline for the airport. With this, 1.7 lakh liters of water will be supplied to the airport daily, said airport director D G Salve.
