Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The ambitious project of the new surgical building at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was first given a green signal in principle by the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

It is noteworthy that the Government Resolution (GR) regarding the new surgical building was issued two months after he received a written proposal from the GMCH administration.

Ajit Pawar was on a tour of Jalna district on February 15, 2025. For this purpose, he arrived at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport.

The Dean of Ghati Hospital, Dr Shivaji Sukre, met him at the airport at 9.30 am. He requested funds for various facilities, including the new surgical building. Pawar instructed him to submit a written letter.

Later, the GMCH administration met Ajit Pawar again at the airport at 2.50 pm on the same day and submitted a written letter requesting funds.

A fund of Rs 867 crore was requested from Ajit Pawar for the new surgical building at the Government Hospital Ghati, Rs 35 crore for repairs and renovations under minor construction works, and Rs 15 crore for surgical medicines and supplies.

Following this, the Government gave administrative approval in April to the construction budget of Rs 710.25 crore for this new surgical building.
