The late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, often remembered as a strict administrator and forthright leader, revealed a softer, more sensitive side when amidst nature.

On May 4, 2025, Pawar visited the ‘Sampoorna Van’ project developed by the Jansahyog organization in Padegaon. Under the scorching sun, he spent nearly an hour inspecting the trees, holding an umbrella for shade. While Marathwada is home to numerous trees, awareness and public interest remain low. During the visit, Pawar subtly criticized the region’s political obsession with positions and power, saying the focus should also be on environmental preservation rather than titles and posts.

Ajit Pawar supports Tapovan anti-tree-felling movement

The decision to cut trees in Tapovan, Nashik, had sparked widespread criticism from environmentalists and artists. On December 3, 2025, Pawar addressed the issue on social media platform ‘X,’ emphasizing the need for dialogue and balance. “The tree-felling issue in Tapovan should be resolved through mutual understanding. Development must go hand-in-hand with environmental preservation. Only if the environment is protected can future generations remain safe,” he said. Pawar’s remarks highlight his consistent advocacy for sustainable development, reflecting his concern for both ecological balance and community welfare.
