Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar came to the city on September 16 for a function organised by the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This turned out to be his last visit to the city. Late, he only left from the airport for programmes in other districts.
A rally and road shows were planned for him in Jai Bhavaninagar and other Prabhagss in the first week of January 2026 for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC)- elections. However, his programmes were cancelled at the last minute.
The NCP led by Ajit Pawar was the first to announce the decision to contest the CSMC elections separately from the Mahayuti. After the decision to contest 76 seats independently, rallies and road shows were planned for Deputy Chief Minister Pawar. But his rally and other events did not take place.
Before September 2025, Pawar had visited the city for the inauguration of the Shri Ganesh Mahasangh office and the opening of a hospital. He had pointed out the financial indiscipline of the Municipal Corporation at that time.
After the Zilla Parishad elections, he was to finalise the financial plan for the year 2026-2027 for the District Planning Committee for the eight districts of Marathwada.
Preparations for this were also underway at the administrative level. This entire process will be postponed because of his death on Wednesday.
