A local organisation ''Aurangabad Connect'' today has urged that the state government should declare a deadline programme of the new water supply scheme of Rs 1,680 crore for Aurangabad.

Through the memorandum, the team drew the attention of the chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, Urban Development minister Eknath Shinde, Guardian minister Subash Desai and Water Supply minister Gulabrao Patil towards the severe water crisis in Aurangabad. They stated that the city is living in the hope of getting adequate water through a water supply scheme for the past two decades. However, various hurdles emerged, extensive political interference, and due to court matter, the water supply scheme remained incomplete. Last year, the government announced a new water supply scheme and appointed the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) as the nodal agency to complete the project.

The team through memorandum inquired that the new water scheme is on which stage of implementation and had the government fixed the deadline to complete the project? If not, the government should declare the deadline, soon.

Meanwhile, the coordinator Sarang Takalkar and members Abhishek Kadi, Kaustubh Bhale, Sachin Darade, Akshay Baheti, Akshay Jaiswal, Sanjay Rakhunde, Sumit Deshmukh, Shriniwas Deshmukh and Prathamesh Belsare have urged the state government to give momentum to the water project as the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had submitted the required affidavit in connection with the new water scheme.
