Aurangabad, Dec 19:

“The concept of sustainable development is not limited to just economics. It included all fields for the development of the human being. All the four universities of Marathwada should implement ‘Common Minimum Programme’ (CMP) together for region’s sustainable development,” said Dr Pramod Yeole, vice-chancellor of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).

He was speaking in the first session of Vice-Chancellors’ conference on ‘Role of Universities in Sustainable Development of Marathwada’ on Saturday organised as part of 38th foundation day of Mahatma Gandhi Mission Trust.

Founder of MGM and former minister Kamalkishor Kadam presided. At the same time, VC Dr Pramod Yeole, VC of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agriculture University Dr Ashok Dhavan, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University VC Dr Uddhav Bhosale, MGM University VC Dr Sudhir Gavhane, MGH trustee Dr Pratap Borade were present.

Chancellor of MGM University Ankushrao Kadam and trust vice-president Dr P M Jadhav also attended it.

VC Dr Pramod Yeole said that the world had become a global village and there is a need for bringing education institutes, industries and society. “Knowledge is capital. There is a need to start skilled based knowledge and industries,” he added.

Explaining the objective behind the conference, VC Dr Sudhir Gavhane said that the region has qualitative researchers, good industrialists and educationists who were brought together by the universities as a first step for the all-round development.

VC Dr Uddhav Bhosale said that one should look towards education for acquiring skills than for just education and job. All VCs felt that there should be sharing knowledge and research among the universities.

Kamalkishor Kadam said that MGM is an institution of branding of Marathwada education on a national level. Economics Dr H M Desarda also spoke. Devshish Shedge conducted the proceedings while deputy registrar Prerna Dalvi proposed a vote of thanks.
