A serious allegation of misconduct involving a girl student at a Class XII examination centre in Bajajnagar during ongoing board exams has caused widespread outrage. A video showing the teacher being assaulted by the student’s relatives and institution officials has gone viral on social media, prompting the education department to initiate an inquiry.

The incident occurred at Late Bhairomal Tanwani Junior College, serving as a Class XII exam centre. The girl, a student at another school, was appearing for her board exams when teacher Swapnil Ingale allegedly asked her for her mobile number. After the Biology exam on Wednesday, February 25, she reportedly complained to the principal. Ingale, employed since 2023 as a laboratory assistant, was assigned as a guard at the examination centre that day.

According to the student’s relatives, Ingale behaved inappropriately and repeatedly harassed her via calls. On learning about the incident, her relatives reached the centre in anger. In the presence of the management, Ingale was questioned and reportedly admitted his mistake. The agitated relatives then allegedly assaulted him, with the viral video showing even the institution’s president participating.

-------

“The institution has sought an explanation from the concerned teacher within seven days regarding the incident and has placed him on compulsory leave. A further decision will be taken at the institutional level.”

— Archana Jadhav, Principal

“As per the directions of senior authorities, we visited the school and collected information from all concerned. A detailed report will be submitted to higher officials, following which appropriate administrative action will be taken.”

— Arvind Kapse, Block Education Officer
