Construction of industrial units for small entrepreneurs under the Amrut Small Industry Scheme in Waluj and Chikalthana MIDC is nearing completion, but the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) is yet to finalise the allotment policy, creating uncertainty among local officials.
With no industrial land left in Waluj MIDC, the government in 2022 approved 49 units in Waluj and 22 in Chikalthana to address long-pending demand. Each unit is built on a 2,000 sq ft plot with 1,000 sq ft constructed space, priced between Rs 65 lakh and Rs 70 lakh, including land and construction costs. Currently, 70–80% of the work is complete, with electrical fittings underway. The plug-and-play units are expected to attract high demand, complicating the allotment decision. Despite proposals sent 3-4 months ago, no directive has been received from the senior office.
Options under consideration:
Authorities have suggested two approaches prioritising earlier applicants or allotting units through a tender process. There is also a proposal to give preference to entrepreneurs who had previously approached the court against MIDC. With limited units and high expected demand, a transparent policy is awaited.
