AMC establishes Gunthewari Cell, technical staff

Aurangabad, June 21:

The State Government has announced to legalise all the illegal constructions made before March 2020, in January. However, the AMC failed to implement it. The town planning section of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has established Gunthewari Cell after the newspaper published the news highlighting that the AMC had not started the process to legalise the illegal properties under Gunthewari Act. Meanwhile, the AMC administrator A K Pandey said, " The AMC is waiting for charges from the state government."

It may be noted that the cabinet has decided to legalise the illegal properties under Gunthewari Act on January 6, 2021. Later on, the correction in the original date of the Gunthewari Act 2001 was made from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2020. Under the revised act, the way to legalise the constructions till March 31, 2020 on payment of fixed charges was clear. It is ascertained that 1.5 lakh properties would be legalised due to the new decision.

" The AMC has started to implement the Act. It has set up an independent cell with Gunthewari head, assistant, and technical employees (zone-wise) in it. The state government has not yet finalised the charges to be collected while legalising the properties under Act. As soon as the charges are finalised, the AMC will implement it soon," said assistant director town planning Jayant Kharwadkar.
