Aurangabad, Dec 21:

The anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has removed various encroachments which were existing around heritage structures like Barapulla Gate and Jaffar Gate, today.

As reported earlier, the work of conservation of gates is underway in the city. Hence the encroachments around the heritage structures are proving a hindrance in accomplishing the task.

According to a press release, the AMC squad removed a tin shed encroaching 400 square feet land (30x10 feet size) near the Jaffar Gate (in old Mondha). Before the action, the civic administration had alerted the encroacher three times but was in vain. Hence the AMC demolished the illegal construction today.

The squad also removed seven encroachments existing around Barapulla Gate (in Kotwalpura near Mill Corner). The AMC squad removed all the houses made of tin sheds near the gate.

Under the guidance of additional commissioner R P Nikam, the action was initiated by deputy commissioner Aparna Thete, designated officer Savita Sonawane, Sneha Bakshi (of ASCDCL), R S Rachatwar, Vasant Bhoye, building inspectors Syed Jamsheed and Mazhar Ali and police inspector Hashmi.
