Aurangabad, Dec 1:

The Nagrik Mitra Pathak of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) set a record by collecting a fine of Rs 1.21 lakh from irresponsible citizens, in one single day, so far.

The squad collected a fine of Rs 1600 from 16 persons for spitting in the public areas; Rs 99,000 from 108 irresponsible citizens (Rs 500 each) for roaming in the city without wearing masks; Rs 1650 from 11 persons for throwing garbage in public places etc.

The squads also paid surprise visits to the commercial markets and found banned carry bags in different shops. Hence, the civic team collected a fine of Rs 5,000 each from Punjab Suitings (City Chowk), Banarasi Saree Centre (Jalna Road) and Santosh Agency (in New Mondha).
